FORT PIERCE A smile across the miles can mean so much during the holiday season.
Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service wants to close the gap between military men and women and their loved ones here at home.
They're offering a free service called Messages of Hope throughout the holiday season.
Treasure Coast residents with relatives in the military are invited to broadcast a ten minute message that their loved one can view from anywhere in the world, even Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Anybody that has someone in the military that's serving our country, defending our nation ... can give them a Christmas wish and wish them love and happiness many, many miles away," says Rick Haisley, funeral home director.
The funeral home began broadcasting their services earlier this year. Family and friends far away can log onto www.eventbywire.com and watch the service.
Messages of Love is the funeral home's way of giving back for Christmas.
"We can have one person or 6 or 8 people and it will be broadcast to their loved one," says Haisley.
The broadcast can be viewed live or on the Web site for up to 90 days.
Each family gets ten minutes to say whatever they want. The service is free.
All of the webcasts are private and each family is given a unique login number.
